Here's a pic of the body lines on the front driver door. You can see the door goes from being flush with the body lines down near the handle to being almost a quarter inch off up at the top.

But do your door come off of or is this a stock hinge problem? (Sorry if you've already said that.)
Mine doesnt seal right, but that could be my problem..

Stock hinges. I've never found anything that would fit in there to take the bolts out of the hinges. Previous owner had an accident and the body shop replaced the door skin with the door still mounted. I don't think my doors have ever been adjusted (so I would think they wouldn't need to be)Originally Posted by Zacks98

Have you tried the "bend the window frame" idea yet? It won't cost you anything, and it will work.

I plan to try it once this monsoon stops.Originally Posted by Grandpaswagon

Okay, I'm facing a similar issue as you with my door that was all jammed up in an accident. I am somewhat lucky though because my fender is also off so the process was much easier.
I know there is a way to use extensions to reach it. But its a real pain. Try loosening the two ones you can inside and see it it budges. If all fails I know honestly take it to a body shop. This is one of those repairs where you could just make it much worse than it already is. Especially if it was in an accident. It could need to be banged back into place you never know, a knowledgeable body shop can take care of that because they have tremendous experience with hinges and doors.
Just aligning your window frame may keep some water out but it definitely won't align your door at the top to make it flush with the body line.

The accident was back in '04 and wasn't bad at all, the door skin was only replaced because my sister wanted to get rid of the bullet hole patch job. Originally Posted by campxj

Thanks for the body shop advise, but nobody touches my rig but me.... I have done my own body repairs many times, including straightening the unibody frame rails in the front after my accident in March.

Not snowing here. This summer shattered all rainfall records in my area though.... never seen so much rain in my life. Literally rained at least 4 days a week for the whole summer. My carpet needs a break......

Nice nice. I respect doing all work in house. Haha I haven't quite got the experience for some jobs but I definitely agree with you.
I am not sure if this will help you, but I actually just got my jeep back from the shop and they were unable to fix my gap that looks almost identical to yours. They basically aligned the door and made it open and close good but the gap at the top still remains. My post was bent pretty bad during my XJs accident. The only thing I have left to try is more insulation/rubber or bending my window frame slightly up. I will try a few things this weekend and see if it helps.
Even if you get your door aligned you may run into some problems... Just my thoughts

I just got back from the docs and tried bending my window frame in. I placed a small piece of a 2x3 in the door jamb right where the door handle is, rolled down the window, and tried pushing the top of the door closed. No success. I then tried pulling it from the inside, which also didn't work. I think tomorrow I might hook up a ratchet strap to the top of the door using the same method and see if i can get anywhere.
