you mean the digital displays that tell what the MPG is? yeah, but the work (i personally feel) isn't really worth it.

i agree, it isn't worth it to get the digital display for mpg. if you use u're XJ as a DD, then you should be able to gauge exactly how much u're getting per gallon on a every fill up.

You can always look for an overhead console from a jeep that came with one with all the sensors, that should work...Tj

Very easy if it's OBD2, and relatively cheap.

I've got a scanguage on my Civic, and it's a lot more useful than just MPG. It'll also tell me values of just about every sensor that the ECU reads, will recognize and reset CEL codes, and does some rudimentary datalogging. It's INCREDIBLY helpful in chasing down CELs because you can see the sensor data in realtime while the car is running.

Not bad at all for $159. Unfortunately they only work on OBD2 cars, so I can't use it on my 94 Cherokee. I've never personally tried the scanguage on a Cherokee, but the compatibility list says it will work on every Jeep past 1995 except for some problems on the diesel Liberty.

The ScangaugeII can tell you lots of things including MPG, it's pretty easy to install also.

it costs around $170 though

Scangauge is supposedly quite accurate, but only works on OBDII. If you've got a newer XJ, go for it.

Dont you guys know math anymore? You really need a machine to do it? However here is something you could use to moniter ur MPG in any vehicle, anytime, ignition on or off.

I took him to mean he was interested in a real time gauge. My wife's truck has one and I love driving with it.
