What is the little silver box that is located on the passenger side of the dash?
It is right near the heater blower, underneath the glove box. It can only be seen If you are laying on the floor, looking up from where your feet go on the passenger side. It has a bunch of wires going to it.

Under the dash on the pass side is the TCU, under the dash on drivers side is the ECU. The cruise control box was also located under the dash on drivers side of my 87.

That's interesting. My jeep doesn't have cruise control.
Wonder if the PO did something to it, or if they (jeep) just put one if everything.

Cruis control was mostly offered as a dealer option in the Renix era. The po may have had the steering column replaced and not reinstalled the cruise. There are to many ifs to consider. My 87 is a bare bones model. No power windows, locks, or seats. It did not even have the full console, just the little one around the shifter. Yet it had dealer installed cruise.

haha. Thanks for the quick replies. I thought it was the ecu, but then I had read that the ecu was under the drivers side, and so I had no clue what this thing was. Thanks.

BTW its a RENIX era xj, so it will have a different location than other ones. I was just making sure the silver one on the pass side was not the ecu.

Thanks Winston. May have to do some research on my jeep. Not too worried about it, not a DD, but I may get lazy driving home from the trails....
