Default Can I turn off my door lock Honk?

I have an 01 Sport with the factory keyless entry, and it honks the horn when you hit the 'Lock' button. Is there any way to deactivate this? I work second shift, and I like to keep on good terms with my neighbors.

also, does anyone know how to program a new keyless fob if I were to order one? My 'unlock' rubber button is missing.

According to the shop manual, hold the lock button on the transmitter down for 5-10 seconds, then while still holding down the lock button press the unlock button & release the unlock button. This will disable the horn chirp.

Confirm if this works pls!

Apparently to program a new fob you need a "DRB scan tool"....

Yes this works all right - been looking for weeks for the answer, very annoying with the horn sounding, but this does the trick Thanks!
Mine is a 2000 XJ Cherokee Classic.
- nothing in my manual about this either...

To add to this thread, this process worked for my 1999 XJ Sport. It did NOT work with the door open though. Closed with the door beginning in the unlocked position it worked on the first try!
