Default Can I still use this?

I bought a replacement column off of ebay, except, theres one small problem. On the part that goes through the firewall and connects to the steering shaft, the replacements adapter piece is a lot shorter than the one that was on my jeep... Who knew there were two different lengths? The replacement column is on the left. What's the easiest way going about making this work without having access to the donor jeep?

How hard is that to do? I wouldn't even know where to begin in order to do that...
