Can I make it?
Idler pulley started shaking and making noise today, have to drive about 25 miles to my buddies house for him to fix it. Will it make it without seizing up?
My pulley is doing the exact same thing as the one in this vid, the vid is not my engine though.

Personally I would risk it. I doubt that it will seize up. But it does have a chance of coming off and throwing the belt or worse it can send it trough your radiator. It doesn't tkae much to change it out. You can pretty much pick one up at any parts store for fairly cheap. If you want to chance the 25 mile drive I wish you luck.

The last one I bought (just over a year ago) cost @ $15 at AZ. It's easy, take off the belt, loosen and remove the bolt holding the idler pulley, replace the pulley, reinstall and tighten the bolt, then reinstall the belt. Takes 10-15 minutes max.

That **** infuriates me. We're here to talk about our XJs. If there were no reposts or people asking the same questions there would be 47 threads here and this place would be useless.

If the member writes something like... " my heat has been getting gradually worse, what can I do?" he should be punched in the face for not searching and being lazy... and also ashamed for not knowing a few things to attempt..
BUT!!! If the thread starts out with.... "So my heat started to suck, did the core back/forward flush, popped in a new thermostat because i had one laying around, checked blend doors, coolant level, inlet and outlet hoses are hot.. then it becomes a discussion because the member is ATTEMPTING to solve a problem, common or not...

One of the reasons I 'revive' or bump old threads, like I did this one, is to see how things went with threads with an open end...
Threads are helpfll if you can follow though on what the problem is/was, was has been done about it....and eventually, what the effect of those actions were in order to solve an issue and give closure to a thread.
And, especially like in this thread...the ominous question: Did he make it or not..
