Default Can I drive without front shocks?

I have this bad clunk coming from my front drivers side when I hit man hole covers, rough sections of road, etc. I tried pulling my anti-sway bar but that didn't change anything. I'm now considering pulling my front shocks to see if it could be the shock bushings, maybe I need bar pin eliminators. Has anyone ever driven around without front shocks? I've played around with adjusting the damping on them (Rancho RS9000XL) and I think the clunk is better with less damping than more, which is leading me towards the shock bushings...

Swap your shocks around and see if the knock migrates to the other side.

you might wanna check some other things out like.. track bar mount, control arm bushings, the shock bolts,or the swaybar bushings.. the ranchos have poly bushings and shouldn't be worn and if they were they'd be broken and easily visable

Thanks for the advice guys. I spent some more time looking around today and it looks like the PO installed a set of shock conversion brackets to use an eye style on the top mount instead of the stud. The bracket is totally wrong for the jeep. It doesn't fit the eye correctly (too wide). The bolt has mashed the bracket so that it makes some contact with the bushing, but doesn't look good. Also the bracket ears are way too long. They extend far enough to contact the flange below the eye. I'm thinking that my bouncing noise may be coming from the bracket banging on this flange as the bushing flexes, part of the flange is slightly bent, not sure if that happened due to banging or if the PO bent it to get it to fit. For $30 I'm going to get the JKS shock conversion brackets and see if that solves my problem. I'll probably put in the bar pin eliminators too, just for grins.

I've been all over this thing, inspected and tightened all the control arms, track bar bolts, inspected TRE's etc. Hoping that this is it.

absolutely correct.

and to the OP. my jeep bounced all over the place when i moved it from my last house to my current house. And it was only being dolly towed at 25-30 mph the entire way on decently smooth ground.
