Jeep wiper arms have a clip that can be released only if the arm is pulled away from the windshield. Look where the base of the wiper arm slips over the splined barrel (the stub that stick up from the cowling that rotates the arm) You will have to lift the arm away from the windshield until you can release the retainer clip and slide (wiggle) the base from the splined shaft it rests on. It sounds more complicated then it is. Just realize the base of the arm slips over the splined shaft straight...Also there is spring tension that holds the wiper towards the windshield that you have to deal with to pull the base of the arm off straight. NOTE: Look at the positioning of the arms before you remove them so you can get them back in the same location. The cowling has screws that hold it in place. Good luck!
Hope this helps...
