pretty sure its an evap purge solenoid, and the clicking is just the solenoid opening and closing

like you can feel it when you put your hand on it. it never used to do it, so i took it to autozone (check engine light) it was cylindar 3 misfire, we changed spark plugs and then it still made the sound which sounded like a spark plug misfiring, but i found out it was the evap purge thingy like you said

clicking is normal if its idling, once you go and drive it should quit but from what Ive read in the past the clicking is nothing to worry about. just switch it out if you want but isnt necessary.

DON'T HIT IT! yeah it's the evap solenoid and it was doing the same on mine and I smacked it, it broke and I could only find it at the dealership... that was very expensive for me.
