Can anyone suggest a good wiring harness tape?
None of my local auto part stores seem to be able to get wiring harness tape. They tell me just to use electrical tape but I know for a fact that electrical tape doesn't stay put that well when it's in an engine bay and subjected to constant heat from the engine.
3M makes wiring harness tape which you can find here... 3M Wiring Harness Tape
Of course the problem is I can't seem to find anyone who carries that tape. So, what I thought I would ask is if anyone can suggest or recommend a good wiring harness tape for rapping parts of the wiring harness under the hood. I see lots of them when I look on Google but some of them appear to be nothing more than mislabeled electrical tape.
Any input is appreciated!

I use 3M electrical tape. It's real good. Comes in a plastic container to keep it fresh. better than the junk you find all over the place.

And you're telling me it doesn't come off with that hot Arizona heat? I used electrical tape once before under the hood and the heat just melted it off in a matter of weeks.

Order it online? I slit rubber hose and ziptie it if i really need to protect a wire. Sometimes I use plastic loom. I like it because I don't have to unwrap a bunch of tape. But cruiser is right. The good 3m tape holds up well, it's more rubbery than the vinyl crap you are thinking of.

I've used 3M Super 33 for many years in the aftermarket automotive electronics industry and have never had any problems. Best place to look for something like this is an electrical supply store, like that which sells products to electrical contractors. You shouldn't have any trouble finding one of those close by, or you could try Fastenal.

I like 3m Super 33 also. I have found it at Walmart and Lowes. I also like Harbor Freight self bonding. HF Self Bonding

You HAVE to go to a real Electrical supply. ask the counter guy there. he will give you a 3M brand for sure. thats a very heavy grade. thicker and stronger than the crap home depot sells. I get it form someone in Con Edison here in NYC. If you know anyone that works for your local electric utility company, they prob have rolls of it on there truck.

Yes. It does not come off in the heat. If it did, I wouldn't use it anymore. I like the little plastic case it comes with. Keeps it in good shape for a long time.

Here is my rule for 3M tape. 88 is for higher temp, Super 33 is good for most general use and 35 is for marking wires. Hope this helps.

I bought this and it worked very well. One Roll did the entire engine bay.

I've always used rubberized friction tape. It adheres up to 500ºf, each layer insulates to 8000 volts and has a 950 PSI tensile strength and most of all, leaves no sticky-***** residue.
