Default a/c problems

Hello,
I own an 02 sport. My problem is that the a/c only blows cold air for about ten min. I have had it recharged. Was told there were no leaks. I then had it rechecked a year later and was told that there were no leaks again but I was in need of a new compressor. Also told that it might need a new high pressure cut out switch. I need to go as cheap as possible. The cooling fan was not working properly either, found that the thermostat was stuck open and now has been replaced and works fine. Just wish I had air. Makes it hard when it rains.

When you don't have air, does the compressor operate?

it does for a while and then after it reaches operating temp it quits and the engine feels like it is under stress

If that is the case, it sounds like it might be over charged. High pressure cut out switch may be kicking it out and not reseting very fast.

Default interesting

After watching run while cold the compressor works ok. But I did notice that the clutch after it cycled would still move in jerking motions and would sometimes rotate backwards. Does this help with a diagnosis. Heard the clutch coil might be bad? Also bypassed low pressure switch and compressor will run al the time. Just dont think that is very smart for long. Also should the electric fan always turn on with the A/C on or just when it gets too hot?
