A/C plus Heater problem
For my first post here, I have a 2001 Cherokee Sport 2WD 4DR, inline 6cyl, the problem that I am having is that that the A/C is not working properly, I know for a fact that the low pressure hose to the drier is supposed to be cold, only the orifice tube gets cold and of course the high pressure line gets hot, both lines coming out of the drier are the same temp when the A/C is running, my guess is the compressor, I have topped it off numerous times only later to have the compressor kick on and off a week later, and when the compressor is running and fully charged, I get this high pitch squeel, you can barely hear it until you rev it up and out comes the earplugs, with it off it goes away, also the heater does not get as hot as it should be, slightly warm but not hot enough to run you out, any suggestions?

I am not sure what you mean by the low pressure hose to the drier. Both of those lines, in and out are liquid lines and should be warm. The only one that should be cold is the vapor return line, the big one that goes from the firewall to the compressor.
I am not sure what you mean by "I have topped it off numerous times only later to have the compressor kick on and off a week later,". When running properly it is supposed to cycle, not stay on continuously.
If you are getting some high pithed squeal, I am going to guess that you may have over charged it by topping it off numerous times. What method are you using to charge it?

Okay, this is what I found out, if I have the A/C running and the fan is on either 1 or 2, it gets down to about 50 degrees and of course with heater on and the fan at 1 or 2 it gets up to around 107, but when I turn up the fan to 3 or 4 the squeel comes back and the temp for the A/C goes up and of course the heater temp goes down, so this tells me something is faulty under the dash, any takers on this....
