Question A/C issue

When I have my 01 XJ idling for awhile the A/C comes on even though I have it set to vent. Anyone else have this issue or know what is going on?

My 01 is all stock so no mods have been done to it that I know of.

Wonder if the selector switch could be bad? The 2 white positions (not circled) on our XJ do not engage compressor.

That's not true at all. The compressor only cycles in the A/C and defrost positions, in vent and heat it stays off.

I might add that heat can be added in any of the 7 vent selector positions (even if the compressor is engaged) by turning the temp **** clockwise. Heat is way more powerful than a/c so if a lot of heat is needed, make sure the selector is in a non-compressor engaged position when compressor is not needed. No need to cycle the compressor when heat only is needed.
