A/C compressor (?) sqeak
I have a 2000 xj that makes a squeaking noise at idle. It continues at higher rpms but I can't hear it when moving due to road noise. It is a fairly quiet and dull squeak and the only way I can describe it is it sounds like "wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle" if that makes any sense at all. I THINK it's coming from the ac compressor but I'm not positive. I don't know if it's the belt, pulley, clutch, or compressor itself. Is it possible that it needs oil? Any help would be great. I'm going on a road trip in about 2 weeks and I don't want the pulley to fly off or anything. Thanks in advance

Have you listened for it with your head in the engine compartment or just from the drivers seat. Check the oil dipstick, check the belt tension, get a tube of somekind, Paper towel tube or hose, listen to the motor through that, help pin point where the squeek is coming from. Get a squirt bottle with water in it. Squirt pulleys and belt till the noise goes away, that will be the item causing the squeek.
