Seems to be some confusion between defrost/defog and evaporator/condenser.

Yeah, my defrost works fine. Even with a major leak in my a/c system

Your defroster will still work without the ac connected. You have to remember not all of them came with ac and the defroster still works on them.

Yeah, even with all my A/C components in the trash, my defroster works just fine.

Hahaha this is also true. Your defroster won't work if you've bypassed the heater core and taken out the A/C.
