Bypass of NSS question
Why would you want to? Mine crapped out last week and I took it apart and cleaned it. One of the springs was gummed up inside it, sprayed out with brake clean and wiped some dielectric grease inside. Took 2 hours and it like new again.
Sorry if your looking to do this for some other reason.. Just thought I'd share

Thanks for the fast response. I am having issues with the jeep not starting because of it. I attempted to remove it to clean it last year but could not get it off to save my life. I do all of my own repairs and am handy, but this thing was a *****. As the weather got warm the problem went away. Now that it is getting cold again, I am getting problems. I was thinking of just bypassing it for now.

Ok, so I worked on it for an hour and couldn't get it off. I pried on the retaining nut as suggested in the write up and it seems to be stuck on the valve shaft and wouldn't budge. At one point the retaining nut slipped threads a little and from there on out I was worried I would damage the threads. I hit the threads and shaft with WD40 and let them soak a little but nothing. Any other suggestions?

But yeah, I was trying to fix this, and found a good NSS in a junkyard. Got every thing off except the NSS. It's just so damn hard to pry out.
In the end, I lost my patience and the screw driver damaged the plastic cover at the back of the NSS. But it did come off, so be careful not prying to hard.
somebody on the forum said they got to pull it off by hand, it's magical to me, how they didi that.
I had the similar problem, but my NSS didn't give me the non-starting trouble, I just can start in any gear i want.

I think the hardest part of the job was removing those stupid zip ties up along the fire wall. What a pain haha
Yeah it does make the CE light come on, I had the same problem for the longest time. All i did was go to junk yard and pull one off a wrecked xj and swapped it onto mine. They are for sure a pain in the *****. Only cost like $10 though
