Bypass headlight wiring harness?

You're trying to fix two things in two different places. First is that corroded connector, by cleaning it up or cutting it out and soldering the wires directly. The second suggestion is to install an aftermarket headlight harness which eliminates any real current going through the headlight switch, undersized oem wiring and that connector. The headlight harness basically connects between the headlight and the headlight socket. It uses the original wires to control a pair of relays that provide power directly from the battery. By doing that you get full voltage to the headlights, eliminating all the undersized oem wiring that drops the voltage to the headlights. By taking the load off the headlight switch, it eliminates it melting down.
