So when I turn the key to start my jeep, there is a buzzing sound coming from around the passenger side dash/under hood by firewall. The jeep will turn over but does not start and none of the gauges work on the dash until the buzzing stops. Then the jeep will crank. Any ideas as to what this buzzing sound is? Its a 98 jeep cherokee limited 4x4.

 

Anyone got any ideas as to what this is?

 

I had the same issue, and it turned out to be the maglite in the glovebox.

 

Oops I didnt read the whole post. Ya mine started, so its probably something else. Check around the fuse box as its over there maybe somethings shorted out.

 

Could it be the ECM? I cant seem to located the ECM but have heard that its on the passenger side by dash.

 

you getting anywhere on this? i need to know asap where that f'er is. my idiot shop manual tells me what it does and shows the codes but DOESNT TELL ME WHERE THE F IT IS!
