Does anyone know how to disable that noise your jeep makes when the door is open and the keys are in? I k ow this thingy has to be pushed in, but it looks like I can take it off. Not sure what will happen if I do. Help please

 

You should be able to unplug the buzzer unit under the dash and leave the door switches alone.

 

Where is this located?

 

That 'thingy' operates your interior lights and perhaps also an alarm system if you have one. Takes the wires of the buzzer if you can find it. Earplugs work too

 

open door with keys in ignition. wait for buzzing to start, feel under dash for the buzzer . believe me you'll feel it . once u find it disconect or u can pull the dorr switch out and wire the to 2 wires together to loop the circiut and the computer will think the door is closed all the time . for older non power xjs donno if it would interfear with the power everything xjs ....goodluck

 

if you take off the kicker panel the button has a plug you can disconnect it it will have the wires 2 yellow and 1 black alternatively you can cut the black but you will loose you roof lights when you open the doors but the light switch will still turn them on/off

 

Did exactly as you said. Turned it on and felt for it. I pinned it to this, one picture I am pointing to where mine was located (to the left of the interior fuse panel) and in the other picture it shows what I pulled out. The noise stopped and did what I hoped it would do. And the interior dome light still works when the door opens. I think some one made a comment about it. I still need to go out and check if my alarm system still works though.

 

i did the same thing by taking out that alarm piece right next to the fuse box on my 95 XJ. that annoying buzz is gone!
