Watch a guy try this three wharehouses a a 55 chev belair burnt to ground and three week stay in the hospital later . How lucky are you in life. Can of starting fluid will get it to start . Other than that mounting a tank and hooking it up correctly only safe way.
.

^^This^^
Using a can of starting fluid would be your best and safest option. Just spray a little to get it going and shoot a little more to keep it running.

As long as you have the send and return lines in the can and probably near where the gas tank should be (considering that's where all the lines are running to/from) I don't even understand what would have to be done to cause a fire like that ...

I popped the tank on my '76 Power Wagon one time, I had to drive @ 75 miles to get out of the woods and get home. I set a 5-gal can in the passenger floorboard and ran the fuel line it to. Granted, the pump was on the engine, but the principle is the same. Just don't smoke in the vehicle while you're doing it.

I just want to see how he will get the elect. fuel pump into the gs can. Like mentioned before if it was a mechanical pump that would be a completely different story.

I have used an aftermarket elec fuel pump that I keep around for when I need to drain a gas tank. Mine is a small Napa brand, if I remember correctly.
