ok so the engine in my 92 sport is shot, I don't have time to rebuild and am about to spend $1600 on a "NEW 0miles" long block from oreillys, my question is does anybody know where I can find a 0miles engine any cheaper ? im not sure if this is factory "NEW" or a rebuilt, I will be getting that info later today. any help would be great as I have a whole list of other stuff I want to buy if I can get this any cheaper

 

It's most likely a re-built or re-manufactured motor/block.......a used block that's been cleaned, machined and some new parts installed. Searching locally and on the net will give u motor prices.

 

What's included in the "long block" from Oreilly's? Some don't include timing cover, oilpan/pump, gasket kit.. etc..

Check on a price from Jasper. If you have any buds who may own or work in a shop maybe you can do better on the purchase price. You doing the install?

Myself and friends/family have bought numerous rebuilds over the years.. Jasper is hands down the best if you end up having a warranty issue.

BTW.. 1600 wont be a new crate engine from Mopar.

 

ok to answer the questions, yes installing myself, yes on timing cover oil pan and valve cover. comes with 1year warranty, I am looking into jasper now, anymore suggestion would be great

Search Atk very well established builder Advanced Auro handles them. It more important to have a reputable company then save a few denarius with a major purchase like this.

 

did you get a quote from Jasper?? 100K/3 yr warranty..seems like a good deal with awesome feedback, I highly doubt oreillys 1yr is worth the paper printed on...

 

Online o rileys shows three year but never heard of the rebuilder..

 

I agree, half the time I'm the most penny wise pound foolish, but this is no time to mess around.. You want a company that will stand behind their motor (even if owner installed) and will compensate you for any issues you may have... also if you pick one up without oil pump etc make sure you change it out and keep receipts so they have no way to wiggle out of warranty...

 

When I was doing automotive for a living used many Atks never a issue ever....

 

I looked up ATK, the webside says they don't sell directly, that I need to have a business license or a resale license.......working on the jasper quote now, hey where are the lift points on this motor ?.........oh ya 92 sport 4.0

 

I ha a 91 s10 with a 4.3 from jasper 3 yr warranty and that SOB lasted me three years plus excessive driving and off-roading... When my 97 ZJ looks to be on the *****s ill definitely be getting a hold of jasper and going that route... Sure 1600 is a good price...but 1yr warranty kinda gives me a bad vibe on the quality the engine really is

 

Side not sold it to a guy i used to work with and hes still driving that PoS around damn frame will rust off and die before that engine will

 

so come to find out is a 3year warrenty from oreillys so I freal alitlle better about it but I am still checking with jasper
