In the middle of replacing my battery cables when I busted the shroud from the alternator. I am wonder if there is a part number for this or where I may purchase? I am guessing this piece is needed an I can't do without, but if others have some insight that would be great.

Actually, you don't really need that as long as the wire there is insulated from the rest of the alternator case. Mine has nothing like that, as well as several others I have owned and all was well

Yup you can grind off the sides of it and just keep the insert and the bottom part so it keeps the positive from shorting out on the alternator case . I've had a lot of alternators like that and some are made that way .

Thanks 4.3L XJ. The shroud had a large and small nub that inserted into the alternator, so I wasn't sure if they did anything other then keep the piece in place.
