Default Burning smell?

Hey all, a friend of mine asked me to figure out why her 00 Classic XJ (automatic) might have a sudden onset of "burning smell" that she describes as either electrical or rubbery when she gets out of hte car after driving. I guess it started about 1 month ago when driving on a 250 mile trip from 5300 to 3700ft of elevation. There are no electrical problems or other issues that she has noticed that acompanied the smell. It is getting pretty hot here (90's), but it has been about that hot for a while so I don't know how much ambient temp would factor in. She says she is up on all of her routine maintenance so there are no low fluids.

Any ideas? I know I'm not giving you much to go on so please ask me questions and I'll try to get answers to narrow it down.

Thanks,
s

Holy crap. I want to slam my head against the wall. I can't believe that didn't come to me when I was talking with her. I'll have to check into that.

check all the bushings in the steering. i've seen that happen, bushing pops and grease gets on the brakes and can cause a funky smell.
