Hey guys! I have a 94 cherokee 4.0 I6 with aw4 trans. Just yesterday I removed my cat (just temporarily, I'm aware of the legality of the situation). I replaced it with a section of striaft pipe from autozone and now I'm burning oil. The jeep hadn't been burning anything until I did this. It's not a heavy thick blue cloud but it is noticeable. Is this just the oil and junk on the new pipe burning off, or have I stirred up problems in my engine by removing the cat? Any insight from you cherokee masters would be greatly appreciated!

It could be a coating on the new pipe.
Mine did it when I got new headers. If you litteraly notice less oil on the dipstick that's when you can consider oil consumption

That's what I'm hoping is the cause. Oil level is ok so far. Forgot to mention the jeep only has 164000 miles on it, which is low for its age. Any other opinions are welcome.

the cat burns off unused emissions, mainly fuel.. And without burning it off you'll have more white smoke. I ran no cat for a while and noticed it until I put a new cat on

Cool. Thanks for the info, im always trying to learn something new. So I guess the blue smoke I'm seeing is just the grease and junk burning off the new section of pipe.... I hope

either that or worn rings, but if you only noticed it after you out the new pipe in.. It's probably the pipe. I wouldn't worry about it unless it keeps going for a week or so..
