burning breaks??

Thumbs down burning breaks??

i was driving around yesterday and noticed a smell of something burning. i think it might be my breaks it kind of smelt like it i know i need new drums and shoes really bad. could it be from that? im planning on doing that this week. any help would be appreciated

Does it roll freely when out of gear and brakes not applied? I had the same problem with a truck. I had to stop and put it reverse to get the rear shoes unlocked. Might be worth a shot.

it still rolls and seems to drive fine. ill hafta try that im at work right now

i dont believe so..it could be my clutch feels like its on its way out. squeeks now and then when i press it and just presses little rough. a buddy i was with that knows more than me didnt think it sounded like clutch but could be it maybe?

it makes the smell even when im good on the clutch tho. i noticed smoke coming fromt he breaks after hitting a puddle. possible that its rubbing mabye?

Have you looked at your belt? A pulley could be seizing up and melting the belt.

easy way to find out if the clutch is slipping shift up quicker than normal then give it gas watch the tack if tack rise faster than vechicle is accelerating clutch is slipping brakes dragging will result in ver touchy pedal when applying brakes and pulling also xj will not roll when in neutral as easy as it should
