Test the flex of your rig the way you want to run on the trails i.e. sway bar or no sway bar and see if you have issues when you stuff the tires.
You want to avoid taller bump stops if you can. Their point is to limit flex if there is binding. Limiting flex for no reason is just plain wrong.

Yes. However, bump stops only limit upward travel. If you're severely flexing out your rig, make sure your brake lines are long enough for maximum downward travel or you may want to get limiting straps

I think JeepDeep meant that the only reason to get larger bumpstops is to keep you from rubbing or "binding" your tires when fully stuffed. However this limits you from achieving full flex, I.e. full upward travel. So its up to you. I will be putting in extended bumpstops for my rear axle because at full flex my tires rub on my bushwhackers, not wanting to ruin those anytime soon haha

If bump stopped correctly the axle will still fully flex, the stop only stops it from coming up into the body, on the other end you have your drop. Equally (or more important in my opinion) as important, at least in the terrain I run. Telling someone to not bumpstop and that it limits flex is not giving them the proper info.

To me, there is a max amount of downward travel though based upon the upward real of the other side. Works kind of like a see saw that can only go so high on one end, the other side won't go all the way down. Not arguing, just explaining my opinion. Great input Desert Rat
