Budget Lift question.
I'm new to the Jeep world coming from the imports for 7 years and I got tired of being small, so I moved on to something bigger and fun.
Anyway, lets get to the point, this prolly been asked countless time and I admit I haven't really searched for my question.
I have hard time decide which lift I want to do to my Jeep. 2 inch or 3 inch. Would I need new shocks if I went with 3 inch? I'm a broke college student who is looking to lift the Jeep up a few inch so I can run the trails that we have around here.
What are the things I would need to get if I wanted 2 inch lift and then what are the things I would need for a 3 inch lift? I did know that if I add a leaf spring on to my existing leaf spring, it would sag quickly. My Jeep only has 93,000 miles on it though.

2" is not a very noticable difference, atleast i dont think so. the only thing that i have to say about a budget lift is they suck and arent worth while especially if your doing it for the trail. on the road for looks is a different story though. if you do a budget boost get some longer shocks with it even if they suck, atleast it would give you better performance on the trails.

i have the old man emu (OME)2 inch, i notice the difference in height but it is suttel and unless you are looking for it you probably would miss the height difference. Old man emu is not a true lift it is really a supention upgrade with some lift. i spent around 1k for every thing, it has a great ride but i dont think i will do old man emu eva again becuases of the cost.

Yeah I went the budget 3" lift route and now I'm kinda regretting it, the budget lift that is, the 3" lift looks killer!
I got all new bigger shocks that are decent, I can live with the blocks in the rear and the shackles I got are killer but the spacers in the front just plain suck.
I'm going to a few junk yards on monday to look for some V8 Zj coils...

i was under the impression that OME was the cheapest way to go, thats what ive seen from searching around anyway. but hey what do i know i build all my stuff and only purchase the springs themselves.

Check out e-bay and search Cherokee lift. I bought a rough country ALL system offered by carparts.com out of Illinois. Kit came with new coil springs, u bolts for the 2.75 dana 35/44 axles, new hydro 8000 shocks with boots although the ad said boots would be extra?, ALL springs, 1 1/2 blocks if you need more lift although you'll need longer u-bolts then the ones it comes with. Total cost $200.00 with free shipping. Your existing leaf springs must be in good shape. I have put 6K miles and did some off roading and the ALL & Blocks have not sagged yet. I am pleased for what I got for the cost. Next I want 31-33" tires.
