Default Budget Boost, Bastard Pack Advice Needed

I just pulled a set of leafs off of a 93 Blazer and plan to use them to get me about 3-4" of lift using the advice onthe "How To" thread from Orangeamc13. I'm told htat I should paint the leafs in the process. This is likely a smart idea because the leafs I got have a good amount of surface rust on them. What pain should I use though. These things are going to rub on each other and flex like crazy. Maybe the Rustoleum Hammered (after a good sanding/scraping of course)?

Also...and more importantly...what can I do cheap to get the comparable lift on the front end? Will I also need new LCAs or bumpstops? What about the swaybars (this is a DD that my wife will occasionally drive so it needs the swaybars).

Remember I'm trying to get a good lift on the cheap side. I'm using the http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...udget_Lift.htm guide to help me out, but could use all the advice available.

Thanks,
s

Front coil springs from a V8 ZJ will get you about 3" or so- even it off with a second set of JY factory spring isolators (3/4"), if needed.

LCAs are not needed at 4" of lift, although they will give you a better ride. You will also need new shocks, but you knew that already. :-)
Bumpstops will be needed in the rear to stop rubbing on flex- how much depends on the size tire you have. I am running stock bumpstops without any rubbing @ 4.5" in the back with 31" tires.

It isn't really necessary to paint the springs. There is nothing that will hold up. They flex too much for paint to last. Just make sure that the friction pads are there.

That is what I figured. I'm not sure how to use the clips and the pads but figure if I try to put them back the way they looked from the factory I'll be alright. Of course, advice is always appreciated .

Here's the budget boost I did on my DD last weekend to kinda give you an idea.

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/zj-coils-xj-18604/

If I were going to paint the springs, I would brush them with POR-15. But like 4.3L XJ stated the springs flex and are constantly rubbing aginst each other....Worth a try.

If you plan on going more than 2" you will need more than just spings to make it a safe Daily Driver and want it to handle correctly.

The center pin to bolt the leafs togather is 5/16

One more thing. These rear springs have 4 more inches of free arch in them than stock springs. So you will need shocks that are 4 inches longer, as well as spacing your rear bumpstop down another 2 inches.
