Bucks and sputters around 43mph, fuel filter, catalytic converter, something else?
I have a 1994 Cherokee SE. 4.0 L, Straight 6; 2wheel drive; automatic transmission. In idle it slightly sputters every minute or so for about 5-20 seconds; it varies. The problem comes whenever I reach approx. 40-45mph. The problem is, it starts to buck and sputter, almost like a coughing and chocking effect. When it happens, if I give it gas it will accelerate and the symptoms stop. I've been trying to figure out the problem, sice I recently purchased the Cherokee and have yet to have it registered, I am unable to drive to a shop and have a diagnostic done; and I'm not schooled enough, nor have access to any equipment to diagnose the problem myself. Any help I can get will be EXTREMELY APPRECTIATED!! Thank you all!

Try the inexpensive approach first;
I would check the fuel pressure with a gauge, make sure its meets specifications.
I would check under the hood at night, in the dark with engine running. Looks for visible sparks or glowing on plug wires.
