I should also tell you that with this system, after you fill it you need to burp it to get all the air out, i do this by jacking up the back end of the jeep about a foot and start it, unscrew the temp sending sensor on the rear of the block a little to release all the air out. (Caution, make sure the jeep is cool when you do this, it will sputter some fluid out and you dont want to burn yourself.)
when you fill the engine with coolant i always do it from the bigger hose off the thermostat housing, hold it up high and pour until you get some out of the tstat housing and then put the hose back on! wahlah!
I fought that stupid closed system for 2 years, finally converted to open where it burps itself and havent had another issue!

But think I'm gonna do this too, later tonight after work.
You say "bigger hose", is that the big fat one? Because I've been reading so much about this, "upper hose, big hose, lower hose" etc. But not a single explanation to which is which! Tons of hoses under the hood man...

I thought so too, but she runs so normal, good fumes, had no more foam/bubbles after my flush last night.
Forgor to check the oil but earlier this week it was fine.
So I have pretty much ruled the gasket out. Plus, it's a 4.0 I6! Come on, HG, noo way!

I was trying to burp it according to the Hayne's manual, that's why I left the cap open.
But think I'm gonna do this too, later tonight after work.

There is two hoses on the thermostat housing, a small one that leads to the heater valve, and a big one that leads to the radiator. take the big hose off the tstat housing, hold it up higher than the rest of the engine and fill it till coolant comes out of the tstat housing.

Just need to be sure, are you supposed to have the car running when flushing?
I know the Hayne's book said no but as I read on here, it's necessary to get the clear water to go through the block as well.
How does this work? I never tried to access the block drain plug because of it's location. But this should mean it's still dirty in there.
Oh well, after running the jeep a bit last night, the water passed through there and then boiled over so I guess it kinda cleaned itself out

Changed the t-stat, had to make my own gasket so this is gonna be interesting in the morning!
Gonna fill her up with more coolant and then take her to work, see what happens. It's a short trip, don't think she'll get warm during that short drive.
Exciting to see what happens now, if she's all good or not. If not, then I don't know what to do next, take her to the mechanic I guess. Have him check her for a broken HG...

It often takes several burps with the temp sender to get ALL the air out.
The brown you saw was because air had been getting in somewhere - rusting things.
Check ALL the hoses/connections. When it cools the system sucks in air through tiny leaks.
It may not leak coolant - air is much thinner than coolant and goes places coolant can't.

I'm gonna drive her up to temperature after work and then try and burp her real good.
I hope that the brown was just rust and nothing else. Been worried it's the head gasket or the head itself. The other day I saw that some of the connections were kind of loose, espesh the one under the reservoir, saw it's been leaking there a bit. That's tight and nice now though

We'll see later, thanks guys!
EDIT: By the way, shouldn't a 195 degrees t-stat, open at 195 degrees? Could air in the system cause it not to open?
