Default Broken vacuum reservoir cause for rough idle?

So I just saw today that the vacuum hose running to my vacuum reservoir canister AKA ( the small black ball with the tube that that connects to my cruise control actuator) snapped off and broke a piece off of my canister completely. since this happened whenever I come to a complete stop or I shift into park my rpm's begin to fluctuate. They drop a crazy amount, and then rise back to normal again. It does this for about 5 minutes then my motor dies completely. are these two problems even connected? and if so do you guys have any advice or expertise on how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

Its a vac leak. It will cause problems. Replace the ball or plug it

If I plug it will cause any damage? Would I still be able to use my cruise control?

No damage and cruise will not work. Heater will not work right either. Get a new vac ball if you are worried about cruise.
