98 XJ 4.0 125K miles. I recently broke a connecting rod. I sucked up some water a few months back and I believe that is when the damage started. I have the head and manifolds off, the block is still in the jeep. I was able to just push the piston out of the cylinder from underneath. the cylinder is in good shape, a couple scratches at the very bottom that a stone/hone would take out. Head/valves seem to be fine. Rod bearings look good, journal looks good. Piston is cracked, rod was bent and broken. How far should i take this? get a JY piston/rod and throw it in? or should I take the engine out and rebuild it? I've gotten this far, and my gut tells me to go all the way. Am I Wasting time and $ rebuilding?
