2001 xj rear shocks-upper wishbone (no other good name) where the shocks bolt to at the top
and the exhaust hanger comes off broke the welds at the frame rail on the right side and pulled away from the floor. Dont know if its spot welded across the trunk floor or just at the ends..might be too rusty to weld back...are there replacements available? Pictures not the best but tough to get a good shot..If you've been back there you know the piece...thanks
Went to the dealer...15 min found the correct diagram...Its the rear crossmember part number 55235018 Sadly no longer manufactured. But I did find numerous hits for the rear shock relocation brackets...will probably go with one of them
Believe it or not the shock bolts came out, its that whole steel structure that pulled away from the frame and the floor. Im assuming that. "Y" piece with the nuts on them slide up into the crossmember and are used as replacement nuts if the original ones are rusted or broken
My bad, how I completely missed what you were actually talking about I don't know. It looks like it's pulled the spot welds out of the floor, however I would have thought it'd be welded to the frame at both sides too. It may be worth pulling up your rear carpet and having a look. I don't know exactly how that all welds in from factory but I'm surprised that it's possible to break away like that without major corrosion issues.
My guess is it's going to be a clean up the area, rust treat and weld it back in place to sort.
Its tough to see with a camera...no real contrast. The main welds are where the crossmember meets the frame just outboard of the shock and they are broken on that side. Im thinking about the rear shock adjustable relocation bracket..several companies make them, dont know how good a reweld will work in there.....of course no one has the original bracket anymore

yeah, bit if there were better welds along the area I refered to, it may have not torn loose. gussetting and doublers can be used to repair the original, piece I think, there looks to be enough metal left to make that job not too difficult me thinks.
