Ouch That's gonna leave a mark in the pocket book!
Or you could buy a cheap 90 degree adapter for your drill and drill into the broken bolt and use an easy out. shouldn't be too hard as it wasn't seized in. Just broke from over torqueing.
Maybe an hours work.
Your going to have to remove the shrouds around the rad to get to it.

Wait...The head of the bolt broke or the cylinder head broke?
If it's just the bolt then pull the water neck and remove the remnants of the bolt from the cylinder head.

GOOD QUESTION: What Broke ??
The Bolt? Then you must get the remains out and get a new bolt, No Biggie !
Fractured the Cast Cylinder Head ?? Depending on where and how It might be fixable ?? But that one IS A BIGGIE !!

the lower bolt on the thermostat is smaller than the top if i remember correctly. the way he is explaining it is that the bolt was over tightened and the head of the bolt broke off to m y understanding.
First take the thermostat housing off and check it for any cracks, they are a cast piece and can crack once overtightened(replace if damaged). Then you should be able to see the leftover stud from the bolt that was broken, you might have to take the belt off to get in there easier. Use some vice grips and tighten them really tight and then remove the broken stud. Then inspect the treads for damage if there is none go to ace hardware and get a suitable replacement. If the bolt threads were damaged you are going to have to use a heli-coil thread repair kit, you can get them at auto-zone or kragen-oriely. Its a insert that allows the new bolt to tighten in a existing damaged hole. Finally good luck and maybe you should have a shop perform the work next time. Not trying to be rude but, if they damage your car its on their pocket book not yours .
