broken brake line
Hey guys...i was going up my driveway and when i got to the top i noticed the brake light was on...you know the little red one...so i checked and saw that there was no brake fluid...i filled it and drove to my girlfriends house and i come back out and the whole remnants of the tank is on the floor...anyway how much does it cost to replace a brake line and how difficult is it.

You can buy brakelines already made up you will have to bend them to fit it is best to take the old part with you to match it up.

The answer to your question is:
It's easy. Do yourself a favor and buy a set of flare nut wrenches so you can get a good grip on the fittings. They look like this:
Then, after you get everything nice a snug you will want to bleed the air out of your system.
Here's a good article on how to do it. Your girlfriend can even help, because she won't be getting dirty. They love helping, and later she'll brag to everyone that you can do ANYTHING!

Brake lines cost $15 each plus $10 for a cheap set of flare wrenches and $5 for the fluid, get the big bottle. You will need to bleed all 4 brakes, starting at the Right rear and working toward the master cylinder, RR-LR-RF-LF.

unless of course, it's a simple flex line.
some brake lines have a bubble flare on one end and a double flare on the other.
using a flare tool is quite easy, but i recommend practicing on a smaller piece of line until you get it right.
most flare tools you buy at most parts stores or even harbor freight are double flare. it's hard to find a bubble flare tool, but won't cost much to get a brake shop to flare that end.
but it is quite easy to replace all the brake lines yourself. really, it is.
you don't need a special bender, just use your hands and bend with your fingers, just try not to crease the line.
