Default Broke my rear axle.

I replaced my 91 D35 3:55's with a new set of 3:73's. I raced last night a my first lap into a strong right hand turn I broke my rear axle shaft. I seriously twisted it into at the gears. Any upgrades on the D35 for this? O don't really wish to do the Chrysler 8.25 switch yet. Maybe a winter project but not now.

Any suggestions?

The leading cause of shaft failures in a D35 is a result of the tubes flexing.

Add a truss and run alloy shafts if you plan on keeping the D35.

Building a D35 is like polishing a turd, it will look a little better, but it will never shine. Do a swap and save money.

Why not build one out of scrap?

I'd suggest asking a local welder/wheeler to fab one out of 2" x 2" x 3/16" square tubing or 1.75" x 3/16" wall D.O.M.

Somewhat disagree. That is if the truss is truly engineered for max. Strength versus weight. Welding more metal isn't always the answer. Metal can be tricky with various tension and compression characteristics.

I am talking more in general terms too...not as an experienced Jeeper.
