I had a whistling sound and a rough clutch that started out of nowhere yesterday, so I decided to replace the clutch master slave assembly. Easy enough...I've done it before. However, once I bolted the new one on there, I still have the whistling sound every time I engage the clutch. It absolutely didn't want to go into reverse. So, the problem is how to bleed it. Unfortunately there isn't a bleeder screw in the new assembly, so I have to do it "old school" and knock out the roll pin and disconnect the line from the slave cylinder. I'm planning on doing it this afternoon, but now I'm thinking what if it wasn't the hydraulic assembly at all? What else could cause that whistling sound? I own a 1996 XJ FSM (Factory Service Manual), but in the clutch diagnostic section, it only says that the hydraulic assembly is a possible issue.

Is it neglecting to mention anything else that I should be looking at?

My current clutch has 21,000 on it. It's a Luk clutch. I also replaced the flywheel (Luk, as well). I should add that I'm extremely easy on my clutch. I never ride it, and I don't like to sit on it when I'm stopped. I probably average 2-3 seconds on it per shift. My transmission has almost 1000 miles on it...I just replaced it.
