Default Brakes ... are they supposed to suck ?

I've been doing a few things to my 94 ... got the engine oil to remain on the inside where it belongs, and the exhaust headed out the back .

Now, it seems like this thing need extensive pedal pressure to get it to stop ... Is this normal for these Yeeps ?

I know theres an upgrade listed.

I haven't checked for a bad diaphram yet, but will do soon.

Any ideas ?

Theyre good at staying connected, also good at cracking over time and losing pressure.

Sounds like you need to bleed the brake system (as others have suggested)
search cherokee brake upgrade and you'll find lots of people putting newer boosters in their 84- 94 xjs

Dont think there is air in lines, as they are not spongie .... But I'm still gonna flush it all anyway, I'm sure it's still the OG fluid.

Line is present and hooked up, next I'll check for a leak.

Just wanted to know, thanks

Could just be normal. I've noticed in my 93, the brakes are less sensitive than any other vehicle I drive, but they never lock up!

I've worked on my own brakes, including bled them and adjusted them. Also I have had them worked on at two different shops and they are still the same. Had them worked on a second time because my axle seals went bad and saturated the shoes with grease or oil.

Bleeding brakes in this case would be a waste of time.

It could be cheap brake pads/shoes or, in general, cheap brake parts.

Rotors/drums could be glazed and/or excessively worn.

Power booster could be out or weak. Whooshing noise when pedal depressed indicates blown diaphragm.

Screaming noise in above conditions indicates driver didn't start applying brakes soon/hard enough and is going to crash.
