when driving, if i let go of the wheel it will turn left. and everytime i brake, it pulls hard to the right. brakes started smokin badly as well. so bad that when i touched my wheels, they were hot as well. thinkin it might be a caliper thats closed stuck but im not 100% sure. anyone got any suggestions? i gotta take an hour drive to work in about 45 minutes. comin home tonight at 9. hope nothin happens on the way to and from.

It does sound like your calipers are sticking. Personally I wouldn't drive it. You have a chance of them locking up on you and may get into an accident.

do both side smoke or just one? Sounds like the left side may be stuck partially engaged and when you hit the brakes only the pass side is applying pressure.

sounds like the problem i had, my calipers were sticking just like that and would get the wheels really hot. just go and replace both calipers, pads and rotors. when i replaced mine, my rotors were warped.

Totally agree. You're looking at $150 for the parts, maybe 90 min for the install, plus the time to bleed the lines. Be sure to adjust your rear drums while you're at it, makes a huge difference.

Compared to an accident or breakdown, this is a cheap fix.

BTW, the 1998 had a mid-year brake rotor change, take you VIN to the parts store to be sure you get the correct parts.

System should be flushed so you have clear fluid all the way around as well.
Brake fluid + moisture/dirt = bad news.

I would check your rubber line, they tend to collapse and not let pressure back out of the caliper causing a seemingly stuck brake.

Look over your lines really good, especially if you bought cheapo braided steel ones.

If you aren't going to replace your calipers atleast clean and grease the slides.

Plus if the piston sticks and overheats, the seal can get damaged to the point it will never really free up and work correctly again without a rebuild. New caliper and rotor is the only way to go.

The slides are inside the rubber boots. I'll let someone else explain how to lube them since I didn't. But I didn't have any smoking, just worn pads.
