I had to give mine a few love taps with my 3lb hammer when I first bought it.

Have you tried to loosen the adjuster through the back plate with a couple of screw drivers or a brake spoon? Use the same slot that you make you final adjustments when installing new brakes.

1st: Make sure the parking brake is released. 2nd: Do as Torrez suggests and release the tension on the adjustment pin through the back plate. That should free up your drum and allow you to remove it. Remember, the adjustment pin on the passenger side is reverse thread.

"Pawl", it's the spring-loaded plate that locks into the adjustment teeth to prevent it from turning. You have to use a small screwdriver to push it out of the way so the adjuster will turn freely.

just saw off your drum, remove your axle shafts, remove the 4 bolts on each side holding the entire drum assembly on, and do a disc conversion, and don't look back.

(I post something similar to that on every thread like this)

X2. I've removed more drums than I've installed in this quest. Even parking brakes bother me. Stupid crap either siezes or the shoes wear a groove. Either way I use my 3 lb hammer a lot. It's my Jeep Brake and Suspension Tool lol.
