Default Brake question

Every so often when I first start and move my '96 XJ after it's sat overnight the rear brakes will grab at the slightest touch of the peddle. Only does it for about the first 100yds or so. It's NEVER done it on the road or after I've stopped (even for quite a few hours) and started again. No ABS.

My 90 model does the same exact thing and I have yet to really figure it out. Ive replaced the brakes and everything. I know several other people have had that issue and seems pretty common. I wouldnt worry about it much.

Mine do this when they are wet, but it usually only lasts for a little while.

Older ford Rangers were notorious for that. The assumption was that certain types of brake shoes absorbed moisture (humidity?) overnight, then grabbed until they were used once or twice. No clue if that is really what happens, just tossing it out there as an idea.
I just hit the brakes at the end of the driveway a couple of times..problem solved. Plus it kept the adjusters working, lol.

Yea you DON'T want to be drinking on a cup of coffee when you touch them! LOL

Disc brakes? Would LUV to.

I don't think they're getting wet but drawing moisture? Maybe

I can live with it but if there was a fix......................

THANKS,guys.

My 98 does the same thing when the humidity get over 75% at night. Which is almost every night here here in South Texas. Also if the brakes get went the day before then it sits. All I do it ride the brakes out of my drive way. Which is about 100 yards. So, once I get on the road the brakes are fine.

As stated: Normal behaviour.
Also as stated: Rear disc conversion eliminates the problem.

I could probably pin point under what conditions it happens but happens so rarely I probably won't bother.

Disc brakes would be NICE. Maybe someday but I got too many irons in the fire right now.
