Default Brake pedal goes to the floor??????

i have an 89 xj, the brakes work just fine until i get on an incline once im nose up or down, the peddle goes to the floor and wont build up pressure. i have replaced the calipers, and had the rear drums turned and new shoes, and had them re-adjusted, i also replaced the master cylinder. now i have this prolem. can someone please help me, im losing my mind over this. someone mentioned that i need to re-bleed the system, does this sound like an air in the lines problem? if so, why does it work on level ground? thank you!

Have you checked the slave cylinder?

Interesting problem...I will be interested in hearing more when you find the problem.

It is a bad master cylinder. I don't know why position affects it, but when the pedal goes to the floor and there is fluid in it, that is the problem.

this problem was going on before i changed my master out. altough, the original problem was from my rears being way too un-adjusted. so maybe it could be the new master! can you tell if this is a bad idea?, i want to put in some sort of die, food coloring, into the system so that when i bleed, i know for sure that i am getting all the way trough the lines. Bad idea or ok to do????

It could be that the MC is bad, but I doubt it. Did you bleed the MC before you installed it on the Jeep? If not, it could have air in it. DO NOT put food color in your brake fluid. After you bench bleed your MC bleed the brakes until you get no more air, and then bleed them a little longer. I use a reverse bleed system that works really good for repalcement jobs like yours.
