Brake pad shims
Do any of you guys use those little shims that come with the pads to make up the difference that is worn away?
I used them this time with my new pads and now my brakes squeak...took them back off and I could see that is what was causing it so I put some extra grease on those contact points. A few days later...it started again. Are these things really necessary?

Those are anti-squeek pads. You have obviously found out how well they work. they do have anti-squeel stuff at the parts house. Some time they work, wifes car squeels without them, My XJ and Bike squeel with them. Go Figure.

Just want to make sure that we are talking about the same thing...they slide over one end of the pad and there are different sizes of them in a little bag and you are supposed to measure with a feeler gauge to determine which one to use. They are only about 1/2in long. If that's it...they are coming off today.
