brake light problems

so i have a 2000 xj.. the center high mount brake light has been out since i purchased it a year ago.. I replaced the bulb, no luck. I checked the fuses and none are blown..i checked the passenger side kick panel and under hood because i dont know where the fuse is. I noticed this is kinda common from what ive seen around town... anyone got any ideas? my state inspection expires at the end of the month and i want to pass...

Just out of curiosity, what state do you live in? I just got mine last month (i live in TX) and they told me that mine was out too, but gave me my sticker anyways. Never mind, I just read your location. My friend had the same problem with his 99. He went to the JY and grabbed another one for $5. Lit right up......hope this helps
