Default Brake dash light stays on.

Any suggestions what to check to find out why the light won't go off? The rear brakes have been replaced and you can see the cables operating fine from the hand brake.

If the light illuminated while you were braking, (it's not ABS, right?)
1. fluid level
2. pressure differential valve.

Fluid level most likely. Probably a blown wheel cylinder.

Check fluid level in master cylinder (under hood). Should have fluid in both reservoirs. If one is lower, you have a leak in the line or wheel cylinder. One reservoir does the rear brakes, the other the front.

Fluid is topped off and I replaced the drivers side wheel cylinder already. Turbo xj, no it's not the ABS light. Do I need to reset the dash light, by any chance?

Push down real hard on the e brake handle, there is a little contact switch under it that will make the light turn on when the e brake is pulled up. Mine is always on and the only way I can make it turn off is to press down real hard on the handle.
