brake caliper sleeves.......??????
I have a rubbing sound coming from the front right of my daughters 94 xj awd. upon looking at the brakes i noticed the caliper sleeve bushing boots were busted and one boot missing, so i assume the grease is all gone. will this have anything to do with the noise? the noise does not go away when brakingand is loudest at around 25-30 mph when deccelerating. I have looked at the cv boots and they look fine. i tried the trick of turning in a parking lot to see if its a wheel bearing. im at wits end. thought i would check here before going to a garage.

I have seen caliper pins get dry and worn and they usually make a click/pop noise when braking either fwd or rev. Other than that it could cause the caliper to hang up and drag the brakes or cause pre-mature pad wear. I dont think you would get a rubbing noise.
You didn't mention looking at the front driveshaft, thats what I would look at next.
