Hey y'all... I'm in a croc of poo here with this 2001 Cherokee. Last night it started to make an obnoxious thumping sound. I could feel it right under my foot. I could hear it too. Can't hear anything from the engine bay only if you crawl underneath it. Just pulled the shield on the torque converter and the bolts look good no cracks nothing. My only other ideas are engine or trans mounts. Or maybe something in the exhaust? I had the check engine light come on for an evap leak yesterday but cleared it and it hasn't come back since. Like I said this problem didn't become noticeable until last night after a good 30 minute drive. Makes noises over bumps and in drive and if I rev the **** out of it in neutral it sounds especially bad. I'd appreciate any help I could get. Thanks guys.

Is your transfer case linkage still in place? Could be anything making noise under there, but that linkage was the first thing i though of. It isnt that far from your right foot.

Your engine/trans mounts may be worn allowing the exhaust pipe to be "grounding out" on the cross member.
