Can anyone tell me where the Blower Motor Relay is located on my 2000 XJ Classic?

I've tried to find pictures but can't seem to find what im looking for, don't know if the relay is down by the blower motor, behind the dash panel, or over by the fuse box....any help would be awesome thanks

 

What kind of problem are you having with it ?

 

The blower motor relay is located in a wire harness connector that is secured to the heater-A/C housing behind the glove box on the passenger side of the vehicle, next to the heater-A/C wire harness connector in the passenger compartment.

if you mean the resistor there is little plasic cover underneath the pass side dash under that cover is a plug with i think 6 wires going to it held in by 2 screws

 

thanks, i found the relay and replaced it but that wasn't the problem. I also checked the resistor and that also wasn't the problem. I then checked the switch and that wasn't the problem either....turns out my blower motor is shot. Its been a long day of testing but i finally figured out the problem. Thanks for your help

 

If you are talking about the resistor, when those go bad, typically the fan will only work on high.

 

i tested the resistor and it seemed fine, so i put 12v directly to the blower motor (same as putting your fan on 4) and it wouldnt run so it must just be the motor

 

The instructions for the 2001 blower motor replacement in the Haynes manual indicate to dismantle car around the motor, replace motor,reinstall car.

 

Last winter, my heater core was about plugged solid. It only blew cold air. I seriously considered selling the jeep and starting over with a diffeent xj with a good heater core. Lol. I ende up making a tool with a bunch of ball valves to blow the heater core out bacward with compressed air and water. Worked like a charm.

Just replace it. Cleaning it will get you maybe a year or so, replacing it will get you another 10-15 years man. Don't waste time, just replace it and be done. Pulling the dash isn't as big of a pita as everyone makes it out to be.

 

My brother had a tj that was plugged solid. We borrowed an actual tool made to blow out the cooling system and blew out the heater core. That was about 4 years ago. It still blows hot. Since then, I had moved to another state and couldn't borrow the tool, so I made my own. It cost me about $35 to make, and about 20 min to blow it out. The tool I made is in storage right now. When I get a little time, I'll dig it out and snap some pictures.

 

I appreciate it, I had the dash mostly torn apart trying to troubleshoot my initial problem, so at least now i know the process. I might just be driving in the cold for alittle while as i don't have access to any of my tools while im at school this semester.
