Default Blower Motor Issues?

I recently purchased a 2001 cherokee sport, and I had checked the heater at the dealer, and all the settings worked, but when I got it home, now only "4" works, and i get no air flowing from 1-3. while I appreciate that at least one setting works, I'd like to be able to control it some, instead of full or nothing, lol. I haven't started poking around just yet, for I fear it may be something I will have to tear the dashboard apart for. Any ideas to help me troubleshoot/steer me in a direction? Any help would be awesome, Thanks!

It's your blower motor relay.

relay... I should have figured they have a relay... I will try replacing that tomorrow if they have one in stock. Thanks for the tip! :-)

It's not a relay. It's the blower motor resistor.

I'm pretty sure on an '01 the resistor is behind the glove box.

Misspoke. Resistor I meant.

Yea, the resistor seems to be the general concensus on the part review, lol. Thanks so much! I am gonna go give this a shot. :-)

Happened to my '97 recently. A cheap and easy fix though.

Isn't it funny how the dealer got it to work just long enough to get it off the lot?

I know, right? That's ok though, I talked him down $500 for other things that were "broke" that were easy fixes as well. $4500 for an '01 Cherokee sport 2 dr manual with 161k miles. In the end, I think I got the better end of the deal. ;-)

Just be careful not to let it overheat as it will most likely crack the head

Sometimes the head cracks and THEN it overheats.

I also just purchased a 2000 Cherokee Classic 4 door Auto 2WD. The Blower worked when i bought it and now less than a month later it has no speeds, it started intermittently in and out and now , nothing. Is this still the resistor or something else?

It could be, when resistors fail they can either stop resisting the voltage or like a blown fuse all current.
