Default blower bad or resistor/regulator?

so the other day i was driving and stop to go in the store but leave the truck running with the heat on max, when i come out the blower had stopped producing air thru the vents, so i figured my blower went out...so on my drive abour 40 min later it just kicks back in...lasted about 20 min and then it died slowly like it just lost power...but then it never started back up.

so a few days go by and a guy on another site recomends that i give the blower a few whacks, so today i whack it a few times with a small pipe and boom it starts back up.

so what could be the problem?

Howdy up there! Looks nice and clean and all, and it's out. I might get one for 1/2 that or less at my local wrecker, if he had one, after I got it out! Course I wouldn't buy one until after I saw mine not work with power to it. I had a starter once that would get a connection when I whacked it. You might unplug, replug all wires you can find, including the fuse before you replace it. Something high draw like that, a bad connection will get warm/hot when it's running. Don't know about swapping relays.
